The extension to the main slope gives an enlarged basic area with some variable terrain for more interest and challenge. On the other side of the replacement lift is a permanent freestyle park. On October 11th 2014 the new slope was formally opened by Rowan Cheshire, Team GB member at Sochi and on Sunday 12th the first Oatcake Jam was held on the freestyle slope.
This is a community project and wouldn’t have happened without the thousands of hours given by volunteer club members. In particular, the buildings, electrics and mechanicals have been done by a few members working virtually full-time on a voluntary basis over the last few months. Single-minded leadership from the club chairperson has maintained the vision and kept up morale. Materials for the project have, wherever possible, been locally sourced in the Potteries area.
