  1. Recreational Standards Met in Full

Use of the air bag is only permitted if the user has already met and demonstrated ability of the full Recreational Performance Standard Criteria for skiing or snowboarding.

  1. Purposeful Use

Users should approach the air bag with clear objectives, such as refining technique, building confidence, or safely attempting new manoeuvres.

  1. Controlled Approach

Riders must maintain consistent speed and direction when approaching the air bag, demonstrating stability and control.

  1. Basic Aerial Awareness

Users should exhibit a fundamental understanding of body positioning during airborne phases, aiming to remain relaxed and composed.

  1. Safe Landing Techniques

While perfect landings aren’t always possible, users should be prepared to land in a manner that minimises risk, such as on their back, and avoid panicked reactions.

  1. Progressive Skill Development

Riders are encouraged to attempt manoeuvres that align with their current skill level, progressing gradually to more complex tricks.

  1. Mandatory Protective Equipment

A properly fitted helmet must be worn at all times when using the air bag. Additional protective gear, like back protectors, is recommended.

  1. Awareness of Surroundings

Users should be attentive to other participants, ensuring the landing area is clear before initiating a run and avoiding behaviours that could endanger others.

  1. Receptiveness to Guidance

Participants must be open to feedback from coaches or slope staff and adhere to any instructions or safety protocols provided.

Note: These standards are in place for your safety and the safety of others. If you’re unsure about your ability to meet any of the above, we recommend booking a lesson with one of our qualified instructors before joining in on an activity that requires the criteria of this performance standard.
